Why Praeco?
The name Praeco comes from Latin, meaning herald, crier, or announcer—someone entrusted with delivering important messages to the people. In ancient Rome, a praeco would proclaim public decrees, call out auctions, and ensure that words reached their audience with clarity and purpose.
Today, lectors carry on that tradition. We are the heralds of the Word, proclaiming sacred texts so they may be heard, understood, and embraced by the faithful. Just as a praeco once lifted their voice to command attention, lectors bring Scripture to life, offering its wisdom and meaning to all who listen.
Praeco is designed to empower and support this sacred calling. With tools for organization, preparation, and clarity, it helps lectors fulfill their role as modern-day heralds—ensuring that the Word is proclaimed with confidence and reverence.
